SL Version 7 Pro free upgrade with Magix soundforge suite 14 purchase

Peter-Bailey wrote on 8/11/2020, 1:00 AM

I purchased the Magix suite soundforge pro 14 with a free upgrade to sl pro 7. I am disgusted that I am still waiting for my SL pro 7 activation code. Magix just says "they know I don't have it." Even more annoying is that it appears that Magix is now part of Steinberg so why o why am I not given my activation code.

Magix support is appalling and now I am essentially defrauded by Magix and Steinberg.

I wonder how many others are in the same situation. This really tarnishes Steinberg.

@Peter-Bailey

Welcome to the Magix user to user forums.

It is a pity your first post here is a rant, especially since it includes at least tow major factual inaccuracies! Magix is not now part of Steinberg and never has been. These are two completely independent companies. As a matter of fact Steinberg is owned by Yamaha. Nor have you been defrauded by Magix and Steinberg.

If you had been prepared to do a search of the forum before posting you would have found several threads asking the same question as you. Perhaps the most pertinent to you is this one. Please read the thread in its entirety where you will see the reason why you have not yet received your upgrade. As a matter of interest you will see the "problem" (so-called) is actually with Steinberg, not Magix!

I think your reply is quite off. That isn't a rant by any means. It is polite and tells the facts. Who owns what is hard to tell and in my searches I found that statement about Steinberg purchasing Magix. Quite frankly I did search and saw the Samplitude thread. I wrote a Soundforge thread as it is a separate product so may have different serial number issues. The fact remains that I have made an expensive purchase of Soundforge pro suite and Vegas pro suite over many years and I have found the Magix service to be let's say lacking. I was hoping other users affected like me might respond. Whether or not I will be defrauded remains to be seen and you are in no position to question that as you are not affected by the loss but what the samplitude posts and my own situation show are that Magix/Steinberg each or joint have not supplied a code that has been legitimately purchased and I am not the only one.

This is not a rant it is fact.

I sort of have an expectation that a moderator might be sympathetic to a dedicated purchaser of these products and, after all, these kinds of experiences harm the company's reputation.

The forum is a place to air genuine concerns and not to chastise polite people with genuine problems. As to whom the lack of activation code resides is clear. Magix were the seller so I would have expected them to raise their concerns with Steinberg and let their customers know accordingly, after all the purchase was in March and they have had plenty of time to deal with the protocol of release.

What we can agree on is that someone should take ownership of this "event".

@Peter-Bailey

That is a rant and unjustified. You have not been defrauded and it was pointed out when you purchased that you would receive the SN for SpectraLayers Pro 7 when available. Magix has replied to others that this would likely be on August 18. The fact that SL7 was released (prematurely, it seems) by Steinberg does not mean that Steinberg has released the SN's to Magix, and it was a good thing that they hadn't until they (Steinberg) fix the problems with 7.

Steinberg did not buy Magix. They only bought SpectraLayers from Magix.

Magix has a ticket system and if you raise a ticket, Magix will usually reply within a few days (they don't work on weekends and holidays).

In this age of necessary fact checking, you should check your facts first before making accusations.

@Peter-Bailey

I think @browj2 has actually saved me from having to make any reply to your most recent post!

I'm sorry you consider what I wrote previously as "off" but it was absolutely necessary to point out to you that some "facts" you stated were totally wrong and that other users had raised similar questions and received "official" answers.

Because this thread is now clearly going nowhere it will be closed.
