SL Pro 5 Cannot Register

walter-howerton wrote on 4/11/2018, 4:46 PM

Purchased Sound Forge Pro Suite 12. SF itself could register, but SpectraLayers Pro 5 freezes at the registration screen. It requires Task Manager ... End Task eventually, as there is no way to end the process or get the process to work. Telephone support simply hung up on me every time I called about this. How does a customer get support for this or any Magix product? Does anyone know the way past this error in SpectraLayers Pro 5?

I'm having exactly the same problem. Wrote up a ticket and see what happens. Sound Forge 12 registered with no problem but SLP5 won't register at all. I'm at a loss.

It seems that with some network configuration the registration process seem to freeze, but by waiting a little more the registration actually succeed. So I would suggest to retry and wait for a couple minutes.

An alternative way to register is to use the offline registration : enter your key and email, then click "Activate Program Offline" at the bottom left, "Active Offline", "Open Form..." and follow instructions to get the activation code.

Having given the activation routine hours with no success, I will try the offline registration. Meanwhile, that routine is very definitely broken, as the same routines for the other elements of the Suite function (activate).

walter-howerton wrote on 4/12/2018, 10:22 AM

Well, that's almost funny. The offline registration instructions say,

1.
Go to https://www.magix.com/us/support/technical-support/pro-audio-support/
and click on the link "Support" > "Support contact" >
"Samplitude, Sequoia and SpectraLayers Pro" > "Login".

2. Login to your
account. If you don't have an account yet you can create one now.

3. Select
"Register product", enter your serial number and click on
"Register".

4. Next, select the
product you want to register and click
“Complete registration”.

5. Click on “My
products” and you will be shown an overview of the products you have
registered. Now click on "Create new registration" behind the product
you just registered and enter the usercode (ComputerID). You will receive an
activation code which you can enter in Samplitude Pro X's (Suite) activation
dialog in “Activate program offline” > “Enter activation code”.

6. Click on “Activate
program” to complete the activation process.

Now you can use the
program. If you encounter problems during the activation process, just contact
our support team.

No such links exist! Searching the Magix site for "Registration" yields links only to Sony Creative Software.

Got past the first few hurdles, but now at Step 5, there is no such code, and the Computer ID is rejected. It does show my correct Serial Number, but won't activate the program.

Whoaaaa! All of a sudden it registered as it normally should! Awesome! Don't know what the trick was...wish I could help! Now we'll try this puppy out. -g-

walter-howerton wrote on 4/12/2018, 5:33 PM

Tried again after Gary's encouraging reply.

Locked up again. Unique behavior among all Magix software I have registered, including Vegas Pro 15, Sound Forge Pro 12, Music Maker Premium, Samplitude...

GaryLee wrote on 4/12/2018, 5:40 PM

I have ALL the pro versions of everything from Acid 2.0 and Vegas 5.0 to present...this is the only time I've had an issue. Now to attempt to put it on my second computer (laptop). Let you know how that goes. Keep at it Walter...I'm impressed by SLP5 so far.

Doing the same thing on my second computer now (workstation laptop)...endless registration loop. Not sure how I solved the first computer registration...just magically worked...see what I can accomplish with this one. I'll try to activate this second install like DivideFrame said. Let you know.

walter-howerton wrote on 4/13/2018, 9:43 AM

DivideFrame,

At step 4, the website gives this message:

"Serial number is already in use

The serial number you entered is already in use. You have probably already registered. Another registration is not required. If you have any question, please contact our technical support team."

How does a customer activate the purchased product, and how to get support?

DivideFrame wrote on 4/13/2018, 9:57 AM

It means that you can skip step 3 and 4 and go straight to step 5, since your serial is already registered in your online account.

walter-howerton wrote on 4/13/2018, 10:09 AM

Indeed. Ignoring the bogus error message in the red box did result in a successful workaround to this problem.

Thanks. Magix must still fix the problem, for the sake of others who will purchase this product.

GaryLee wrote on 4/14/2018, 11:06 AM

Jumped through some hoops but it worked! Thanks Divide Frame!

jim-martin wrote on 5/29/2018, 1:49 PM

Activation through Software Causes Please Wait to go in a end less loop.

Only happens with Prodocts in Magix Pro Audio.

DivideFrame wrote on 5/29/2018, 3:59 PM

Jim, the solution is written above.

jim-martin wrote on 5/29/2018, 5:08 PM

Your Solution does not fix (Register and Activate). It is a work around from the problem. And there is no way to deactivate a computer from the Pro-Audio Site as well.

The work around did help to activate, thx.

Now only Sound Forge registers and activates from (register and activate).:)

Thx

DivideFrame wrote on 5/30/2018, 12:44 AM

The part where you note the computer ID is step C:

"C: Note the Computer ID (starts by SLP5): https://i.imgur.com/ieLWI4N.png"

I know, I wish there was a fix for the online registration freezing :-/

jim-martin wrote on 5/30/2018, 6:24 AM

Samplitude does not have the isue. But no way to Deactivate Spectrallayers Pro 5.

jim-martin wrote on 5/30/2018, 6:35 AM

Markus Gunn also knows the isue he thought all Sony products Were Moved To Sight where you register Vegas Pro And Sound Forge Pro.If Spectral Layers Pro was moved out of the Pro Audio Area and to site where Sound Forge Pro is Registered Problem would be fixed.

jim-martin wrote on 6/9/2018, 9:13 AM

Register And Activate Still Does not Work. Now Invalid User Code when creating an activation by work around.

jim-martin wrote on 6/13/2018, 11:49 AM

If I Have Spectral Layers on my computer I am unIable to uninstall the software to reinstall to new computer or have to reinstall windows on same computer computer name will change thus exceeding number activations allowed.Spectral Layers Pro does have a deactivate feature so customer can reinstall the software on same computer or install in different computer. I have to had reinstall windows and computer name changed that caused the number of activations to be exceeded in my :My products Page there was no way to deactivate Spectral Layers or any Magix Pro Audio product.Unlike Sound Forge and Vegas Pro.
