I need a solution to have simple cuts only editing.
When I select files and set in points and out points and the program does not put the second set of edit points on the edited timeline, but the whole file.
Are you trying to set multiple I O points on a clip then dragging to the timeline?
If so this is the problem - you can only place one set of I O points at a time.
The manual does not make this clear -
• Select a file from the Media Pool by double clicking it. Play it back using the play
buttons to indicate the section which you want to use in the project.
• Either move the range markers directly by dragging them with the mouse or set
them using the buttons or the shortcuts I and O. The shortcuts are especially
useful for exact positioning using the shuttle and the jog wheel
• Left click on the monitor and drag it to the arranger. An object will appear on the
track, corresponding to the selected area.
It could be easier to do simple tasks. like using audio curves. Simple insert edit for example, simple stuff. I guess there is a learning curve to this program.
Can anyone tell me how to click on the Monitor ( I assume John meant Preview Monitor and get a Left Click Drag to work. I have placed the cursor in the middle of the Preview Monitor, off to the side, and on the Clip portion just below the video in the Monitor { }
None of these will accept a Left Click and drag to arranger. None of these accept a Right click and Drag
I want to preview from the Media Pool and just grab the useful bits to put into the arranger, If I perform the entire process of placing the I O marks there must be a way to get that into the Arranger. AFter doing {I O}, if you drag the file from the Media Pool it brings the entire file. But nothing I can find allows me to drag the selected click from the Preview Monitor
• Left click on the monitor and drag it to the arranger. An object will appear on the
track, corresponding to the selected area.
The sequence of setting and getting a section of a clip on to the timeline using the In - Out buttons below the preview window is as follows - refers to the numbers on this image
- Either drag the desired clip to the preview monitor (4) and then click the preview monitor (4), pressing the spacebar starts playing.
OR
using the mouse or press the play button in the blue bar over the clip (1)
- Click the In button (2) to set the In point as required while the clip plays
- Use the Out button (3) to set the Out point as required while the clip continues to play
- Stop the clip playing by pressing the spacebar or clicking the stop button below the Preview monitor
You have now set the range to be added to the timeline - it is highlighted in pale blue.
At this point you can tweak the In - Out points, if you wish, by dragging them along the bar below the preview monitor or reset them and try again.
- Click and hold down the left mouse button any where inside the Preview monitor (4)
- While holding the mouse button down move the mouse pointer (drag) to the timeline (5)
- Release the mouse button
The selected section of the clip will now be inserted on the timeline.
Note - this method does take some practice and you can only set one range at a time.
