The evaluation copy of Photostory does not allow me to create large projects. I am asking here to get actual user experience. I hope this is the right place to post this inquiry.

My projects are generally consisting of 300 to 400 slides (pictures) and 20 audio tracks. I also use some sort of transition between slides and also the animation (mainly Zoom to faces or landmarks). Other software I have tried have failed during the export process.

I am soliciting user experiences here. Do you think:

I will encounter performance issues.

Will the Photostory be able to process these projects and generate these outputs Avi, Mpg4 and create DVD?

Thanks in advance for your feedback.

Hi

. . . . 20 audio tracks . . . .

Are you using the Musical meaning of 'track', or the Video editing version, meaning the timeline tracks.

I am referring to music tracks (songs). To be clear, maximum of 60 minutes of musical tracks to accompany the pictures.

Hi

Thanks for the clarification.

How Photostory will handle projects of the size you have indicated above depends to a large extent on your computer specification.

On a system such as mine, specs are in my Signature below, Photostory can handle such a project with good editing performance particularly when using images, the only drawback is exporting times can take longer than real time depending on effects added.

With video, I normally work with 4K UHD 3840 x 2160 50fps, the preview playback performance can suffer depending on what effects are applied, however exporting, eg to MP4 h.264 encoded video, can be quicker than when using images due to hardware acceleration from my graphics card.

If you intend to produce more complex projects, eg with collages, Picture in Picture, with or without animation, you may want to take a look at Magix Movie Studio as an alternative. A trial version is avalable for testing, this has more capability particularly for bigger projects, however it does require a more 'powerful' computer than Photostory.

Thank you for your clear response. I will take a look at the movie studio.
