Hi,

The new version will install in a new folder and will not write over your existing software.  Unless you are very short on disc space, I would leave the older version on the system for at least a little while just to make sure that you become familiar with your new software before loosing the one you are already used to. 

Of course this is simply my opinion and what I usually do if I have the choice.
