[SF15] How to prevent auto renaming files when using convert?

Freble wrote on 12/3/2021, 4:08 AM

Hi, I like the windows explorer function to convert a file or folder of files without the need to open the Sound Forge editor. However, when renaming with convert SF changes the filenames. Because of this now it still takes me a lot of time to convert a folder of files as these all need to be renamed to the original name. I would expect keeping the name the same to be default behaviour, but obviously it's not.

How can we tell Soundforge to keep the same name when converting to other file formats?

With Sound Forge Pro-15 (build 159), it retains the file name but appends it with the preset name.
I do not know where (or if) there are file naming options for the context menu 'Convert'
Good question for Sound Forge Support.

Hi @rraud, I just see that you once responded to a question I had here. Sorry for not reacting at the time. I must have missed this, because normally I always respond if asking things online. Thanks for your response still

@Freble

HI

Assuming you are using the Batch converter, is the setting for file name set to same as source - see image below.

Hi, thanks for your response, I asked this question two years ago, but in case I need to do this again your answer seems like a good one. Thanks
