Is there some secret to activating the Envelope and Pencil tools in SF Pro 14? They won't turn on from any other mode, and they are always grayed out, in the Edit menu and on the Toolbar.
I tried looking in all the obvious places here, but no luck. Software is up to date. TIA.
Hi @MrPbody, for the Pencil tool to be enabled, the timeline must be zoomed in to at least 1:32 (which I think is the default setting).. This factor can be changed though in the "Options> Preferences> Edit" menu,
Automation envelopes are only available for effects and tools in the plug-in chainer in the timeline mode. (View> Fx Chain). Envelopes are not available when a plug-in is selected singularly in the 'Favorites' menu, or in the 'Favorites' "Apply plug-in chain' mode.
If you wish to save the automation envelops and other edits as a 'work in progress', save the file as a Sound Forge Project file which will create a <.frg> control file and a companion folder with proxies.. When you are satisfied with everything and wish to save the file, Choose "Render as" in the file menu instead of Save or Save as, The original media file is untouched. The caveat of the SF project mode is it takes a little longer to open the project,
btw, 'some' Direct X plugs-ins do not support automation
