Setting up

Derald-Preston wrote on 4/3/2022, 1:30 PM

I was using the free online studio and decided to purchase the Magix premium. I have the serial number and have downloaded the data. However, the system continues to say I am using the free software. What am I doing wrong? If I delete the free software will I lose all the data produced ...or can it be transferred to the premium program?

I've bought the premium edition since 2018 and for some reason when I start the program, it says I'm using the free edition. Usually this happens after the program updates. Right now, I'm trying to figure out how to fix this problem. Most likely have to re-install it. I don't like doing this because I have a set amount of data usage a month. I shouldn't have to re-install the program due to their program messing up and not recognizing me as a premium user.

@ACGuernica

The program tells everyone that upon start up.

Log in, if not already done. Wait for a minute (a minute is not 5 seconds.).

I presume that you have already input the serial number into Music Maker for your latest edition.

If, after a minute, it shows that you are logged in but on the Free Edition, click on the link on the Welcome screen to see your activated Editions. Are they there?

If so, go to Program Settings and Cleanup the Store. This will restart Music Maker and you will have to log in.

An Edition is not the program; it's an add-on to the program. The program, Music Maker, is free. Do not ever reinstall the program because you think that an Edition is not working.

free online studio

What is that? Never heard of it.

...and decided to purchase the Magix premium

There is no such program as "Magix premium." Please use the correct name of the program.

Which version of Music Maker (the program which I presume that you have) do you have installed? 2022 which is 30.x.x.x?

Did you log in? See my comments above.

I closed the program down 2 times and started up again. Finally got it to recognize that I had the premium edition.

@ACGuernica

Like I said, wait for a minute until the program catches up.

Did you have to delete the free version first?. If so, were you able to save the data that you created in the free version?

There is only the free version. If you uninstall and reinstall you're only installing the free version. After that make sure you are logged into your account in the program and add the serial number. Then download the Premium Edition features. Perhaps some download automatically.

Ok .it's getting clearer. So how do I know the premium addition is in use when it continues to say free addition. So far nothing appears to have changed..

Yes

Nigbeat wrote on 4/5/2022, 11:57 AM

When you download the Magix Music Maker programme you are downloading the complete fully featured Premium version of the programme. So you only ever download one set of code from Magix, no point in deleting and trying to find the Premium or Plus copies as the code is all the same as the Free copy. .However in order to access the Plus or Premium versions with all the added features you need to purchase a Serial number. This serial number will be unique to you. When entered this serial number will release all the additional features. When you first enter this serial number the programme take some time 1 or 2 minutes or even longer if your computer is slow, in order to reconfigure the data within the programme so be patient..

browj2 wrote on 4/5/2022, 12:21 PM

@Nigbeat

Good explanation, but I'll go a bit further.

An Edition unlocks some features that are already in Music Maker, which is free, and it gives you access to other Features, Presets, Instruments and Soundpools that can only be downloaded from within the program, Music Maker, once you are logged in and the Edition has been activated in the Welcome Screen of the program. An Edition only has to be activated once. You also get credits for some Instruments and Sounpools that you select and purchase from the Store using the credits within the program.

If you are logged in, Music Maker will automatically recognize all previously activated Editions.

If you are not logged in, Music Maker will only recognize the Free Edition.
