Setting Markers

hdrechsel18 wrote on 4/12/2025, 9:53 AM

I'm trying to understand using Markers in Movie Studio Suite 2024. I have a short film that I want to score using various audio objects. In order to aid my in compositional process, I have added a timecode track (Template/Movie Time) for reference. I would like to add a marker at various points along this timecode, and be able to jump to it. The HELP document seems to say that adding a Chapter Marker to a completed film marks this as a Scene - which would be perfect for my use because it seems like I can name them as well. But when I do this, and look at Scene Detection it shows no scenes found.

I haven't used Markers much in the past, so maybe I'm misunderstanding their use. I haven't found any tutorials online, and the HELP text is a little confusing. Being that there are several Marker types, which one would best suit what I'm trying to do? Are there any tutorials out there?

Thanks in advance; Harry D

Hi Harry

Chapter markers are for when you want to create chapter for DVD/Blu-ray discs.

Project markers do what you require -:

  1. Position the timeline marker (cursor) at the point where you want to add a marker

  2. Press Ctrl + Enter , a pop up dialogue will appear, give it a name and OK.

  3. Repeat steps 1 and 2 as required

To use the markers, there are several options::

  • To jump to a specific marker press Ctrl + a number eg Ctrl+2 will jump to the second marker, note these are the numbers keys top row of the keyboard not the number pad.

  • Jump forward to next marker press Ctrl + Shift + Page down

  • Jump to previous marker press Ctrl + Shift + Page up
