Selling music made with Magix Music Maker 2016 Live

djranz1989 wrote on 1/8/2016, 8:22 PM

Greetings.

I am an aspiring DJ/producer that has been using Magix Music Maker since 2005.

I just recently received Magix Music Maker 2016 live as a gift along with some bonus soundpools.

I produce trance and progressive house and want to eventually sign my music to a label one day.

From what I understood, all of the included samples/loops were royalty free.  The songs I have made are part loops and parts I have made myself.

My question is, would I be able to sign my music to labels and/or release it on ITUNES, Bandcamp, etc at this point?

If no, what would I need to do to be able to sign or sell my music without any legal ramifications?

Many thanks and appreciation.

Hi

. . . . From what I understood, all of the included samples/loops were royalty free. . . . .

No they are not - the included soundpools are copyrighted and cannot be used in any form for monetary gain.

If you wish to use the soundpools you must purchase the Pro licences, for each soundpool used, from Catooh.

See section 5 here. and the chart  here.

Section 2 here

Also if you use the search box on the right and search for 'copyright' or 'selling music' you would have found many questions on this topic.

Many thanks.  I did register on Catooh but cannot seem to find where the licenses are.  I see all new soundpools for purchase but where exactly do I obtain licences for the ones I already have?

I apologise if I have angered you.  I just want to make sure I do this right.

Edit:  The chart explains everything in detail.  Many thanks.

Hi

. . . . I apologise if I have angered you. . . . .

No apologies necessary - if anything I should apologise to you - having reread my post I realised the first four words could be taken as being annoyed.

I am pleased by your statement . . . I just want to make sure I do this right. . . .  which is an admirable quality.

There are too many people who think that, just because a video or music is on the Internet, they can copy and use it freely.

. . . . where exactly do I obtain licences for the ones I already have . . . .

Some of the older soundpools are no longer available or have been merged with others.  Try using the search in Catooh for the name or partial name of the soundpools you have.

If they fail to appear or are not available email:  sales at magix.com
