screen resolution issue

Hello All, I am completely new to Music Maker although I have been using Audio Cleaning Lab for years. I've just installed the free version (2024) to give it a try-out but it doesn't even load completely. I get a message telling me to either reduce screen zoom or increase resolution. But the program is on full screen and has completely locked the PC and the only way out is to end the process in task manager. My screen resolution is set at 1920X1080. Surely this is high enough, isn't it? Curiously, Windows settings says it's 1920X1080 but Speccy thinks it's 1280X720. (I'll check with Speccy). This PC is an ACER laptop running Win10. Intel i5 @ 1.6GHz, 8GB RAM.

Any ideas please

TonyP

@TonyP Is text scaling enabled in your Windows settings?

If the program runs extremely slow you can try to disable the text cursor indicator in the Windows accessibility settings. This is a known cause for this problem. If the program completely freezes, there might be another hidden textbox you need to close first. Usually this can be done by pressing the right arrow key or the left arrow key and then Enter on your keyboard. But as far as I know, there shouldn't be another pop-up besides the resolution warning.

@TonyP

Hi

. . . . Windows settings says it's 1920X1080 but Speccy thinks it's 1280X720 . . . .

This is possible, the Speccy values may be the native (actual) resolution of the screen, and Windows being set to 1920 x 1080.

The specs for the laptop should tell you what the native resolution is, if you cannot find them what is the model number of the laptop.

Hello SP, thanks for your comments. As I said in my post the program doesn't even open so it's not as if it's running slowly - it isn't running at all.

JohnBaker, thanks for your message. The specs state the resolution at 1920X1080 so Speccy doesn't appear to be right, and yet .... Very strange. But why isn't Music Maker running? I wonder.

Would a screen shot help? I don't know if the PC is hung to the extent that I can't take one. Is the upload button above this message for attachments?

Well, something happenned. I ignored the messsage and it seems to be working now. As I'm new to this application I'll have a play around and see how far I get.

Thanks for your help.
