Screen Capture Problems

I have Movie Edit Pro 16+

I just got a new PC with a new installation of Windows and just reinstalled my MEP16+

I am trying to record Screen Capture... and I have two problems.

 

1.  It says I have to "Activate" my MPEG2 Codec... but, its not letting me activate it, cause it says my Software is ALREADY registered... obviously, because I registered/activated the previous installation on my old PC.

 

2. It lets me proceed using MVX Format: however... doing this gives me the following error:

You have selected a framerate and resolution which is not supported by your device.  Therefore, the values have been reset.

 

Ok, uhm.. first... WHAT Device?  I am not using any extra "devices" to record with, other then my own PC... and I think it supports its own Resolutions, etc... yet, the MEP16+ software says it does not?!  This is a fairly high end PC... i5-2500K @ 4.5ghz with 8GB of DDR3-1600 Ram and an Unlocked Radeon HD 6950; on a 24" widescreen Viewsonic LCD...

So... What Device, and how do I fix this so I can do some screen capturing?

Secondly, is there a way to Macro the Record and Stop buttons on my Keyboard so I can record Full Screen without the Record/Stop Dialogue box being visible?

Hi

The 'Device' is your screen - are you changing any of the settings in the record dialog?

When you start the record there are options to hide the controls etc.

Look at Screen capturing in the installed pdf manual - you can find under Start, Programs, Magix, Movie Edit Pro 16, Documentation

I am not changing any settings...

Just going with the default settings; which automatically sets it to 640x480..

I can, change that to any other resolution that my Monitor supports, but I still get the same error regardless...

Hi

I have checked my default screen recording settings for mxv format and the screen resolution is 1024 * 768 and records fine from my 22" 16:10 LG screen.

Other than trying different settings(  stick to the 'standard' screen resolution settings) it is difficult to suggest a remedy.

May be there is the problem relating to the codecs of the player?

There is a shortcut key 'R' to start the screen capture recording, but it didn't stop the recording. Even though I set the dialogue box to disappear, in order to stop the recording, I have to mouse down to click the recording icon, which opens a quick-launch windows (Windows 7), which shows on the screen.

Is there a shortcut key to STOP recording?

Well, I answered my own question. "R" also stops the recording, although it seems not to always be so. I believe that's the intent (which I like). Perhaps I need to be very careful on precisely how/when I hit that "R."..:)
