Hello friends,
I want to actually get mt Dell lappy to an expert who will do some security check-ups and programmes.
Now I want to ask if I keep my MAGIX software, will that be erased out. And if that goes away, then what do I do? Do I need to install it again and also download every MAGIX Bullet looks and FX and templates.
Please guide accordingly?
Regards.

Hi Anirban

You should talk to the person/company doing this for you.

Whether they have to reformat the hard drive will depend on what problems they find or you are experiencing.

Most companies/experts should try to preserve your data and installation wherever possible, however depending on the problems found this may not always be possible - as a minimum they should make a backup copy of your data  (many do not do this) or make a clone copy of the drive before they start to do anything to the laptop .

I would advise you to back up all your data to an external hard drive before letting anyone loose on the laptop.  If they have to format the hard drive then it will be a case of reinstalling everything.

Hi Anirban,

John is 100% correct.  I used to be involved in PC and Laptop security, and if there is malicious code in your application or application registry files, that usually would be grounds to remove the application or associated registry files depending on the tools the supplier is using.

Please follow John's advice and clone your hard drive to an external device and back up your data files to a different device or even DVD if you don't want to buy another external hard drive.

Finally buy yourself a decent security application.  Assuming you are using a Microsoft OS, not Linux, do not buy Symantec or McAfee.  Look at Bit Defender, or Kaspersky and stay away from the free ones.  Make sure that whatever you buy you activate the sofware firewall, and if you are really concerned, look at buying a hardware firewall.

You did not describe the security issues you have or suspect that you may have, but if someone has targetted your PC you can never have enough security.  If you have just inadvertently clicked on a link that you should not have, and downloaded malware, a good security app will likely help you.

Dear John and George,
Thanks for the help. As per the instructions, I will shift all my stuff to a hard drive and will have a solid security.
However do you mean that I must also shift my MME Premium 18 software and then when the lappy is fine, I have to re-install as well as download all stuff again?
Regards.

Hey Anirban,

Here are two ways to do the eye blink effect.
