Saving-Using Overlays MEP2016 Plus

CarpentersMate wrote on 1/26/2023, 12:01 AM

Thank you John and Ray on the last question concerning Plug In's ...

I decided to download a few free overlays regarding 'Aged Film' which I saved to a desktop folder. Should I move/add the contents to the folder 'Movie looks' within MEP? Then drag them over clips on the time line?

Lastly, I have legitimate 'Older' Red Giant Software 'Magic Bullet' V 2.0 (2003-5). The compatibility included FCP, Windows XP and Windows 2000. The adjustment parameters were professional but I assume it might not work and don't want to gum up the works...

Thank You ....

@CarpentersMate

Hi Mike.

If they are files with normal video wrapper extensions then they will not show in the various MEP folders as there are no associated instruction sets to tell them to repeat to the length of the clip they are to be applied to or any chroma key instructions. Such files would have to be added and applied manually as you would with any video clip as far as I'm aware unless John has some additional knowledge. If they are well crafted they should be able to be duplicated without noticeable joins once you have applied the chroma key effect. You could save such a clip as an effect or take for future use I think.

I have no idea about your old software but if it was Win 2000 compatible there is a good chance it will run within Win 10.

Ray.

Hi Mike

I put the overlays into a Resources folder I use for such things as audio, images etc.

This topic ought to have been continued in the previous one as it is on the same subject and has resulted in split responses.

"I put the overlays into a Resources folder"

I assume you're using a much later MEP program? As for MEP2016 Plus, (unless I'm missing something), looking into 'Effects', then 'Extra Effects', and 'Plug Ins', I don't see a 'Resources' folder'? Should I go into MEP application program files, and manually create a 'Resources' folder? Could you be kind enuf to tell me where/how to create that folder?

BTW: My apologies for splitting the thread - I assumed since I credited Ray for a solution, that would close the thread? I'm clear on that now (thank you John)!

@CarpentersMate

Hi Mike

The 'Resources' folder I mentioned is one I created using the normal folder creation process in Windows.

In your case I would create the Resources folder in the Movie Edit Pro 2016 default Project folder as found in the program settings

In the program you can add a link to the folder for quick access as follows -

Note - my folder location is different as seen above as I use several Magix programs, some of which access the same Projects folder.
