Saving a video to an MP4 format crashes MEP 2016

mk2007 wrote on 9/21/2016, 10:10 PM

I have MEP 2016 plus with the mp4 codec.

Windows 10 with current updates.

When I save a video from my video cam (.mts format) to an MP4 format, I get the following message; "OpenCl.dll Access_violation". And MEP promptly has to be closed.

Anyone else have this problem? I've run the microsoft programs to fix that dll, but still have the problem.

"OpenCL" suggests, I think, a problem with your graphics card.  Are its drivers fully up to date?

Are you trying to export to .mp4 using "Hardware Acceleration" (not sure where that setting is in MEP 2016) but I think OpenCL suggests you have an ATI/AMD graphics card and hardware acceleration is not possible with that manufacturer's cards.

Word of caution: I may be completely wrong about the above.  Hopefully other more experienced users will see this thread and join in!

I agree with what emmrecs has said and have not seen this error myself.

Open CL is also used for parallel processing of applied effects on the GPU - So you should make sure that "Processing of effects on the GPU" is not checked in the export window, in addition to making sure that "Use hardware acceleration for export if possible" is unchecked in the "Program settings> Export settings" tab.

Is there an effect applied to a clip at the point the export fails?

Hi

. . . . I've run the microsoft programs to fix that dll . . . .

IIRC that will give you a generic OpenCL driver which may not match your graphics card.

Try updating your graphics card driver.

Please read this post and ensure you prvide more detail of your computer specification and in the case of this issue how you are importing the video from the camera, what mp4 options you are setting and which codec you are using eg Intel or MainConcept - you can find this on the Import/Export tab of the programs settings.

I updated the drivers as suggested and that cleared up the problem. But it also introduced new problems for other applications.

I ended up getting an all new video card that was compatible with Win10. Which kind of sucked because my previous card was only 4 years old and running fine.
