Why does a blank window with the title SALE ON THE BEACH open up when I start Designer Pro? It appears to stop any other windows opening, although the program works.
Thank you John for that information, but where do I find the app and how do I uninstall it? In the Apps list in Windows 10 Pro I only have an option to uninstall Xara Designer Pro X.
I didn't do anything (I think) but "The SALE ON THE BEACH" window no longer appears when I start Designer Pro. However, I tried to check whether there were any program updates, and the window that popped up was blank, except for the title.
I do not have a Magix folder in Program Files, just a Xara Designer Pro X leading to the version 17 files. None of the names appear in the 17 folder, but if it is located in any of the subfolders, please let me know.
There is no such file under the Windows button and the Xara folder from the Windows button.
The popup is blank, with SALE ON THE BEACH as a header, so I have no 'Do not show again' option to click.
It has only happened since I upgraded to version 17 recently.
Do I really need to keep closing the window in order to use the software as there is no obvious way of removing it? Is the a download that I could use to eliminate this problem? Do I need to uninstall and reinstall in order to see a choice of what I wish to install?
I don't have Xara Designer Pro X so am "guessing" this might be applicable to that app, as it is to other Magix apps.
In Program settings, or similar, do you have an option to "Hide News", or similar? To explain, I have been seeing this same message in Video Pro X recently on first starting the program; choosing that option has stopped the message appearing for me.
Thanks for your suggestion. Under Help I have 'Info pop-ups' but the only choices are 'Turn all off' and 'Turn all on'. I have turned then off but have no idea whether I have now disabled a function that I am used to seeing. Only time will tell.
I have neither of the icons you showed in my System tray, and have looked through all of the apps listed on my machine, but none of the names you suggested are there.
Let me see if turning the info pop-ups off sorts the problem, or if it causes me to lose something that I used to see and need. I will let you know what happens when I know rather than take up more of your time at the moment. At least I can use the program, but the appearance of a blank pop-up is simply annoying.
The SALE ON THE BEACH pop-up is still appearing, so turning pop-ups off in Xara Designer Pro X version 17 has no effect on this annoying window. What now?
Open Windows Task Manager and on the Processes tab (make sure it is in name order), scroll down to Background processes - is there any mention of Update Notifier, Network Sync,Connect or any other process related to Magix or Xara?
Repeat with XPD running and don't cancel the popup
. . . . I have seven occurrences of QtWebEngineProcess. Does that help you? . . . .
Yes and no.
The QtWebEngineProcess is necessary for the program to communicate to the Magix servers for licence checking and the Online Gallery for widgets etc. Seven running instances does seem excessive though.
