RX Plugins Crash Sound Forge

Duane-Brosky wrote on 12/10/2023, 11:12 PM

I have a problem with RX plugins such as De-Click and De-Hum crashing out SF when I select them. I did not have this problem with Windows 7 but when I moved to a new Windows11 22h2 machine it's non stop. I started with SF 16 and did all the updates and so I went and updated to SF 17 hoping that would do the trick and still it crashes.

I've worked with Support already with SF16 so I will try again with 17. Does anyone have any idea why they would crash? I've verified through the Portal that they are licensed appropriately. I also did a complete uninstall of 16 with reboots to clear the slate for 17.

I would like to retire my Win7 machine but not if the new machine is unusable. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi @Duane-Brosky. are you referring to the iZ's RX Elements plug-ins,

The RX Elements plugs (64 bit VST 2 and 3) function normally in either SFP-16 or 17 on my Win 10 PC. Sorry I cannot help more without a Win 11 PC. I am sure other users have a Win 11 PC to check.

As a work-a-round, the legacy (Direct X) Noise Reduction pack (aka, NR-2.0) has the same plug-ins: noise reduction, clipped peak restore and click/crackle removal.

btw, welcome to the Magix Sound Forge users community.

I've used the legacy NR but find the RX versions to be easier to use and work with. The frustrating thing is it works on Win7 well. I've opened a support ticket and hope to get a resolution. If it's solved I'll post the fix.

@Duane-Brosky Does it make a difference to run Sound Forge in Windows 7 compatibility mode? Make a right click on the shortcut icon and then click on Properties. Here you can change the compatibility mode.

@Duane-Brosky It looks like atio6axx.dll is part of the AMD drivers. Make sure your graphics card drivers are up to date. Install the newest drivers directly from AMD and not automatically from Microsoft. The automatically installed drivers might be months or even years old.

Verified latest AMD drivers are installed. All are up to date. Most recent is from July '23

The newness of the drivers might be the problem itself. ;)
