Runtime Error. adnormal program termination

channel13 wrote on 11/8/2012, 7:09 PM

Just installed MAGIX Movie Edit Pro Plus 17. Every time I try to launch it I get this error message. "Runtime Error! Program...Files(x86)\MAGIX\Movie_Edit_Pro_17_Plus\Videodelux.exc adnormal program termination". If I "X" out of the error or clock "OK" the program shuts down. Software cannot be used. Software is loaded on a laptop running Windows 7.

Hi,

The most common cause of a run time error is that the system ran out of memory.  This can happen if your system does not have enough memory to start with or if you have many applications running at the same time.

Good Luck,

George

@ George

The problem is very far from simple without knowing the full facts about the laptop.

The only solid pieces of information we can get from the post as it stands is that the laptop is running Windows 7 64 bit and that there is a program termination error.

Other possible causes are Data Execution Prevention shutting the software down (unlikely as there would be another dialog box open), corruption of the installation caused by, or interference from, antivirus or anti spamware during or after installation, memory leakage from some other software running etc etc.

The more information we have the better.

John

Thanks all for your answers. It makes no difference how many other programs are running. Problem happens even when only program runninng is MAGIX. All other programs open and run fine. It took three different attempts to get the software activated. Maybe something happened in all those attempts. Whatever. For now have found a work-around. Namely, ignore the error message and just keep working. Not the solution I'd like. But, it works.

I had the exact same problem with MEP17.  DON'T click on the OK or close the error message.  Just let MEP load and then go to help and download the latest updates to the program.  This solved the issue for me.  The update reloads the right drivers and the runtime problems were resolved,  The updates solve a number of other known "bugs" also.  I hope this helps solve your issues.

Good luck and happy editing!
