[Resolved] Acid Pro 10: But Rendered Files Won't Play!?!

DFIII wrote on 1/26/2021, 12:32 AM

Title says it all. Rendered files won't play?

So what's the secret? The file size indicates that the render is proper, e.g., approximate 30 Mb file for near 3 minute song. But trying to play it in Windows Media or Groove Media sees it sitting at 0 secs and not moving while the programs appear to be going as the play icon has changed to pause.

Any one have a hint of what's going on?

Try "real time" render. Try open the file in wav editor to see the content.

Thanks SKUIX0 ...

I guess it was the digital gremlins. I tried to play both a rendered wav and mp3 in Sound Forge. I could see the outlines of the audio in each ... but it wouldn't play. Then I went to Options/ Preferences ... but there were no Preferences under Options. Sound Forge 14 was a new install and I wanted to check the audio device. So when all fails, reboot. On reboot Win 10 went through a relatively lengthy update. After it booted I opened Sound Forge again and voila! ... there was Preferences where it should be. I changed the audio device to my preferred RME interface and both files played normally. I then went back to the programs I'd tried before and again the MP3 played normally on both.

I can only conclude that it had something to do with the Win upgrade.

@DFIII

Hi

. . . . I can only conclude that it had something to do with the Win upgrade. . . . .

Could be - losing audio is one of the signs that there is a Windows update pending restart on my lap top, others signs are slow mouse response and the need to click several times - odd!.
