Release the audio without quitting the program?

Is it possible?

Yo know how when you start using MMM, it gets exclusive usage of audio. OK, I can deal with this. But if I want to go outside the program and use audio, for example if I want to output a track from MMM, and edit it in another software, I have to close MMM in order to hear the audio in that other program.

My question is: is there a trick to tell MMM to release the hold on the audio, so that I can use audio in another program, but without closing MMM?

Maybe it helps if you change the audio driver in the settings to Direct Sound or Wave driver. Or use an USB-audio interface with it's own driver and it will work fine with multiple programs open.

I should have mentioned: with ASIO only. No other option works for me, for various reason.

Does it matter if you change it to Direct Sound when your are using a different program anyway? You can just change it back to ASIO if you need to use Music Maker again.

Oh I understand now what you meant. I can certainly try, and I will. Thanks for the idea!
