Hi, welcome to the Magix forums.

There is a limit, set by Magix, on the number of simultaneous installations of the software that can be "registered", so I wonder whether this is not actually the first time you have reinstalled the software?

why am I being asked for more money to re install it?

You're not. You're being asked to buy a support voucher, but I agree you should not need to do so. What you need to do is to click on the "Contact" button in the footer of every forum page and when you see this page:

click on the option I have highlighted and then explain fully the circumstances you face and ask them to reset your activations.

Hi there,

I'd like to second what Jeff said about using the "sales" branch on the support website to get in touch with customer service. For this kind of non-technical customer service, MAGIX will never ask you to pay, even for an older product.

As far as your problem goes: You didn't really specifically say it, but your description kind of suggests that this might also be an "error code -24" situation. This indicates a mismatch between the e-mail address that your product license (i.e. serial number) is already registered to, and the one you're trying to use now in the activation process. This typically happens if people used an old or alternative e-mail address for the product registration before. However, it could also mean that there's a typo in the e-mail address you're putting into the activation dialogue now, or there was a typo in the e-mail adddress you initially used. If this information doesn't enable you to sort out the problem with the means you have access to (e.g. the Service Center on the MAGIX website), or you e.g. genuinely don't remember the e-mail address you would have used before, please also get in touch with MAGIX customer service, and provide your serial number. They'll be able to track down your old account via the serial, and sort out the registration for you.

Cheers!
