Registration issue after registration of 2nd PC

Guido-Willi wrote on 7/17/2023, 3:15 AM

To edit my videos with Movie Studio 2023 Suite (v22.0.3.172 (UPD3)) I am using 2 PCs.
PC 1: Windows 11-x64, I7-13k, 32GB
PC 2: Windows 12-x64, I7-12k, 32GB (portable PC)
Since I registered the 2nd PC, I have to re-register the PC practically every time at Movie Studio 2023 Suite start! This can be done without any problems, but is rather tedious.

How to solve the problem?

Thank you very much for support, Guido

@Guido-Willi

Unless there's a glitch somewhere (quite possible!), you may have another "phantom" computer registered. I suggest you go into your account at magix.com and see/adjust the registered computers.

All my forum comments are based on or refer to my System 1.

My struggle is over! I built my (now) system 2 in 2011 when DV was king and MPEG 2 was just coming onto the scene and I needed a more powerful system to cope. Since then we've advanced to MP4 and to bigger and bigger resolutions. I was really suffering, not so much in editing (with proxies) but in encoding, which just took ages. A video, with Neat Video noise reduction applied, would encode at 12% of film speed. My new system 1 does the same job at 160% of film speed. Marvellous. I'm keeping my old system as a capture station for analogue video tapes and DV.

@Guido-Willi

Is your 2nd PC really running Windows 12?

Which of the two PCs requires that you re-register every time, or does this occur with both of them?

I am not at all sure how this problem might be corrected, however, go to your Magix account, log in, go to My products and check what installations are officially "active" for MMS Suite. Do both computers show there? Or, perhaps, is there an older activation still listed? If so, remove it.

Thanks for the quick replay.

Windows 12! Sorry, just before I was reading W11 will be replaced by W12, even before getting significant market share. Maybe I did change too early 😊.
Actually: The W11-PC works. The W10 requests registration.

Meanwhile I checked the entries for the two PCs. Bothe PCs have correct HW entries and one an incorrect Windows version number. However, the one requesting registration has a correct registration.

What I discovered is, that only the second PC in the list requests every time re-registration. The first entry not.

After deleting registration at the first register position (the PC i7-12k W11) and reregistering the PC i7-13k W10 things work. In other words: I don’t have to reregister every 2nd time the PC-i7-13k W10. I checked the entries at Magix service center and now the i7-13k W10 is registered twice. But this works also for the i7-12k W11. A bit strange but for me it works that way.
