More than 12 months old is right -- the last review I saw was from 2002. Surely you've gotten your money's worth out of SF 5.0 by now. Magix are right -- you should consider getting SF14.

Sound Forge was a Sony property when SF 5.0 was released. You should probably contact Sony for help.

Hi @pingu and welcome to the Magix Sound Forge users forum

I would also recommend a more recent version. Unlike most legacy Sound Forge and Vegas versions, SF-5 is not even available to download from the Magix service center.

FWIW, SF-5 was the first SF version to have real-time preview. SF-7 introduced native VST plug-in support. SF Pro-11 changed to a 'modal' plug-in chainer and record UI, (which many folks do not like) and dropping the 'Remote record' sub-window option (another bad idea IMHO).

If you have your SF-5 serial number, I thunk you are eligible for the upgrade discount regardless. All the 'Pro' versions retain the same basic UI as SF-5. so you you should be 'right at home' with Pro 14. Audio Studio's UI is a bit different though.

Thanks both , I cant seem to register my SF 5.0 with Sony so thats not an option

The new SF14 by Magix is too expensive for me

maybe I'll try SF Audio studio , but I'm concerned that it won't do what I need

thanks for your help guys

I have AS14. What do you need to do? I don't know whether you're familiar with VST technology or not, but VST capability makes AS14 expandable in a way SF5 isn't.

Often working within Vegas Pro 13 , I right click an event and choose 'open in sound editor'

(which up to now has been SF5.0 ) I then do detailed EQ , pitch shift or other FX etc ,

which when I save , appears with those changes back in Vegas

So I'm wondering if Audio Studio will work like that ?

Thanks in advance Poinzy !

It should, just change the "Preferred Audio Editor" setting in VP. "Options> Preferences> Audio"

also does AS14 have a decent pitch changer ?

You could also buy SFAS13:

It comes with élastique Timestretch and the standard SF Pitch Bend/Pitch Shift functions.
