register and activate on a new computer

I have audio studio version 10 (2 copies). The original computers have been retired and I need to install a copy on a new computer. It installed and runs but I cannot complete the registration. First issue is the "elevated privileges required" but when our support guy (who has admin privileges) tries, it still does not work.

computer is an HP Probook running windows 10

@john-wilson

Welcome to the Magix user to user forums.

You will find a number of threads in the forum which discuss and provide answers to the "Elevated Privileges" problem.

However, I strongly suspect that there is a more fundamental problem gong on here: specifically that you already have the maximum number of activations of the software currently registered on your account.

To check this, go to your Magix account, log in, go to My Products and check how many activations of the software are currently listed. Deactivate there any that are no longer needed and then try again to activate on your new computer.

Jeff, When I go to My Products it shows me the serial numbers and purchase dates of the two copies of Audio Studio, but I don't see anything on Activations.

SF-10 (and other SCS version) activations are unlimited... sort of, so deactivation is usually not necessary and are not listed in your Magix account info.
OTOH, Magix versions SF-12 and later are limited to two activations at a time.

The 'Elevated Privleges' issue with SF-10 can be fixed (semi-permanently) with a registry tweak or reinstall. Unfortunately it can return at some point and may need to be done again (usually after 'certain' Win 10 updates).
You can choose to run the program as an administrator in the <.exe> file's 'Properties> Compatibility' menu, but this ain't a perfect solution and additional clicks are necessary each time SF is launched and usually disables dragging files to the timeline as well. The registry tweak instructions and other info are in the the following threads. Heed the warning risks of editing the reg.
