If you have upgraded from and older version of Vegas Movie Studio and was expecting to see the familiar interface of the earlier version of Movie Studio - see this comment from Vegas Creative Software (VCS) and this comment from Magix, VCS's parent company.

The replacement program is Magix Movie Studio 18 - note the name change and for more details see here .
