Reflection effect

In Movie Edit Pro 2015 Plus, in the movie templates "icy Cubes" and "Epic Constellation"  the moving pictures have a reflection underneath them which makes them look like they're gliding on glass. Can someone tell me how to create this effect in Movie Edit Pro? Thanks!

When you have applied the movie template you will see a "tick" just above the timeline to the right. If you click this it breaks the timeline down into it's "component" parts and you can see all the effects and how the reflection is achieved. I hope this helps.

Thank you for your response. What you describe must be part of the "Premium" version, or the 2016 version. On mine the tick just above the timeline on the right just makes the template display full screen. I tried it before and after filling the place holders. Thanks again!

Hi,

Concerning switching a template to the timeline, this could easily, too easily, be done in MEP2014 by simply cilcking on the timeline button. Users complained because you could not go back, so Magix removed the possibility of switching to the timeline in MEP2015, but there is a workaround. Users complained again, so Magix put back the possibility to go to the timeline with a big warning that you would not be able to go back to the template view.

Use Epic Constellation and put a few clips on it to start. Then do the workaround.

See this link for the workaround.

Let me know if you don't understand it.

Once you have it on the timeline, inspect the various tracks. You will have to scroll down vertically because the template uses 11 tracks.

In Epic Constellation, look at the first of your cilps. They will be on tracks 3 and 5 with a black and white graduated alpha mask in between. Click on the one on track 3 and ungroup it from the other two, go to Effects tab, Movement effects, Size/Position and look at the bottom of the Media pool for the keyframes. You will see the the zoom has been set to 62 and there are keyframes for the movement. There is a rotation as well as left to right movement. The rotation shows up under the Image size/position keyframes as "yred.".

The trick to make the sliding effect is to rotate in the image and then slide it to the right, then zoom in a bit from 62 to 65%.

Click on the object on track 5. It is a copy of the one on track 3 but you can see in the keyframe area that it is a mirror image and also has the same movement keyframes.

Track 4 is a b&w graduated alpha mask. It makes the reflection more transparent towards the bottom of the screen. It has no movement.

Track 9 has a video similar to track 1, but only with a faint bluish part, and the object has a Mix chromakey. This is what makes the bluish shimmering effect over top of the photos. It makes it lookslike there is some transparency through to the bottom track (track 1). Interesting effect.

See Terry's comments for other effects.
