"I was told I had to get sound forge 13."
Who told you that? I personally know someone who has SF Pro 9 on his WIn 10 PCs and has not encountered any serious issues and I have even used it on occasion. I have Pro 10 on my Win 10 laptop, and aside for the occasional 'elevated privileges' registry tweak, it runs just fine. btw, SF Pro 9 does not have this 'elevated privileges' issue.

What do you mean by "was not allowed to upload it"? Do you mean 'download' and do you not have your SF Pro 9 serial number?

Thank you for the reply. I did not have the consultants name any more. My new computer did not come with a disk drive and I they would not give me an option to down load the 9. They said I had to repurchase it. Then he encouraged me to upgrade. He said everything would work. I did not try to open a thing right away. My mistake!

Hopefully, I am doing something wrong and just need some coaching.

I couldn't figure it out, sobthats when I called the company. That's when they said they could not help me. It was a month later when I was told I could have purchased a disk drive for the lap top. I have since destroyed my Sony forte 9 and the registry number.

I am so sad.

@johnebaker , I do not know about SF-9 from an old SCS installation disc, but the SF-9.0e download from Magix installed and authorized online for my buddy not long ago on his Win 10 PC.
FWIW, I recently installed SF 4.5 on a Win Vista PC without issue.. Authorization was just typing the serial # directly to the app. It needed to be installed directly from a disc however. I had the disc image and just burned to a CD-R. I could not recall how to set up a virtual drive using the image.

I had the serial numbers and everything I needed except the disk drive. I had upgraded my computers several times since then and never had a problem. I guess I'm gonna to have to.put 12 years of work back together!.

Thank you so much for your comment. I appreciate them .

@Janet-Large

Hi

Why not buy an external USB DVD drive and use this?

Thank you John for the question. Well at the time when I got my new computer, I never dreamed of it not having a disk drive. When I explained to my tech he said no worries, this is where technology is heading. No one told me you could purchase external ones or I would have done that. There were several programs i could not reinstall. After talking with my tech and the Sony Sound Forge consultant i thought my only option was to up grade to the 13 as it was a down load. I did not try to open up any of my previous work. AND STUPIDLY, I threw out all my my disks that would not work. So now the external drive is of no use now. I NEED TO DO MORE RESEARCH!
