You have not given us much information to work on!! You speak of Song Maker; presumably you mean Music Maker? If so, which exact version, check under Help>About.

Then we need to know a lot more about your computer (please read this post for guidance on what to tell us) and how, exactly, you are connecting your microphone to your computer, what type of microphone (USB or otherwise), which audio driver you have selected in Music Maker, etc., etc..

With a lot more information from you we may be able to suggest solutions.
