Recording problems. Music playback starts skipping when recording.

Jeremy-Russell wrote on 7/27/2023, 2:50 AM

I constantly go back and forth between the wav driver and music maker ASIO when I'm making songs. When I make a song with magix I use loops and live guitar and vocals.. When the audio starts skipping as I'm recording it completely throws me off and then I have to scrap the track and try again. What can I do to fix this?

@Jeremy-Russell First try restarting your computer. Please make sure you select the Restart option and not the Shut down option.

Next, if Music Maker is able to start again, what sample buffer size is set in the ASIO driver settings? You need to click on the Advanced button next to the driver selection to open the driver settings. A larger value will increase latency but reduce load on your CPU.

To further reduce load during recording don't use a lot of effects. It's better to add effects later during mixing.

Hi,

Download, install and use the appropriate M-Audio ASIO driver.

I have it with my M-Audio M-Track and it works better than anything else.
