What are you recording from, a USB mixer for mic or guitar (audio), or a midi keyboard?

I have an Alesis multimixer4 USB mixer it has a guitar and mic input,however the instruction manual says"do not use with microsoft GS software wavetable synth" which I have been unsucessful in removing...Please help,you,ve been great so far..I have a dell MS7...Thanx

Make sure that everything is lined up, including the record parameters (button beside red record button). See below. I used the driver that came with my mixer. If you do not have one with your mixer, then use ASIO4All instead.

You cannot change the setting as such, it is part of Windows - however this topic here may help.
