My sound forge 10 has started recording clips at a different length then the source material. a 1 minute clip records in 55 seconds. ie the file length is 55 seconds
Welcome to the Magix Sound Forge forum @James-Dorman.
Can you elaborate on this behavior? Does this happen after saving the new recording. What format? Is your interface or soundcard set to the same sample rate as SF's 'new' file recording setting and saving is it pitched up or down slightly?
Hi. This just started. It's been fine for years. The files are complete but they are pitched up a little. So a song that is 3 min. long has a file length of 2:45. It plays complete but faster than normal. I have always used Microsoft Wav. 44,100Hz, 24Bit. Any ideas? Thanks
That behavior usually indicates a sample rate issue, for instance, a 44.1kHz file playing back at 48kHz. What format are you recording and saving the files as? 44.1kHz / 16 bit PCM <.wav>? Check the scrub bar setting (bottom left of the timeline), in playback, the rate should read '1.00'
What does the "View> Properties" menu and the status bar state as the sample rate?
Some soundcards and interfaces can be locked to a specific rate. My 'Echo' Mia card was like that. Look into that possibility as well.
The playback rate is 1.00. Checking the file properties it shows file type as "Wave (Microsoft)" Sample rate 44,100 record and playback and Audio bit depth as 24 bit for playback same as record. Properties shows Audio bit rate as 2,116 Kbps. I am using an "M-AUDIO" device for audio in and out. My audio Studio 9.0 on my XP computer does not have this problem.
ASIO drivers are know to be quirky, check the device type settings in "Options> Preferences> Audio"
Try the PC's internal soundcard (or another interface), if everything is normal then, it would likely be the M-Audio interface settings. A friend has a M-Audio device and had similar issues, I will ask him about it.. what model do you have?
The internal sound card solves the problem. Not sure what changed. M-Audio use to work Audio Studio 10 and still does with Audio Studio 9. Thanks for your suggestions. The M-Audio is a Fast Track Pro. If your friend has any ideas, i would be interested. Thanks again.
Thanks. Good suggestion but I have looked for newer drivers. This unit has not been supported for years, so I have not been able to find any. I may have to stay with the internal sound card. thanks for all your help.
