Recording from usb turntable

I just bought ACL14 and am unable to record from a USB tuntable. It acts like it is recording but shows that the level is too low. Unfortunately I have onboard sound rather than a stand alone card. I cannot find anything to change the recording to capture the sound from my turntable. I can record using Audacity but find the program a little clunky <g>. Am I stuck recording with Audacity and cleaning with ACL?

Hi,
It sounds to me like ACL is not set properly for your USB turntable. Depending on the turntable you should be using ASIO drivers. This is all separate from your onboard sound since it's a USB interface. Any changes to your onboard sound WILL NOT affect your USB turntable.

I have seen miracles performed with universal drivers from asio4all.com and ACL. Try downloading from there; if you can record from Audacity then you can record with ACL as long as the settings are correct. It seems to me that ACL is set to your internal sound card and might be picking up "bleed through" and not actually recording the audio.

Let me know if this works,
Justin

Stel,  I use a usb capable connected turntable.  Usually, turntables which are usb also have 2 RCA outputs, either in the back or on the bottom. Mine is an ION turntable & they are underneath.  Buy a 1/8th" to RCA Y-Adapter (I got mine from Radio-Shack #274-883)  Hook it up between the turntable and computer with RCA plugs and the 1/8th inch input and hopefully you will be in business.  Please let me know if it works for you.
