Hi @buceta-c and welcome to the Sound Forge discussion group,
The record UI was changed by SCS (Sony) starting with Pro 11. They removed the "Remote" record window feature, but the record window is still there, They just made it less intuitive and requiring additional steps to set-up (duh). Below are instructions the 'newer' (but not better) record UI.

- Go to "Options> Preferences> Audio" and select the 'Record' tab.
- Confirm or select Audio box as the record device type.
- Go to "View> Record options" and make any parameter changes if so desired.
- Leave the "Record options" window open and select "Arm" (shortcut: Ctrl+ Shift+ A)
- Viewing the record level meters in the Record options window, make any necessary record level adjustments in the source's output or soundcard input.
- Commence recording by selecting "Record" in the transport (shortcut: Ctrl+ R) .
btw, prior to recording the sample rate and bit depth can be changed by selecting "File> New".

FWIW, I questioned this bone-headed change when beta testing Pro 11 prior to publication. SCS totally ignored me.. the same for the plug-in chainer UI also changed in SF Pro11.

Couldn't Magix come back as it was before?

Can't you admit that magix damaged Sound Forge?

@buceta-c

Hi

. . . . Can't you admit that magix damaged Sound Forge? . . . .

There is nothing to admit here, as this is a user to user forum not Magix Support and Moderators donot work for Magix, we are users of their software as you are.

As @rraud has stated neither can you blame Magix for the change, which was a design change and done by Sony before Magix acquired the SCS products.

Sound Forge belonged to Sony from version 7 to version 11 and the recording window was always present. It wasn't Sony that removed it, but the magix. I didn't think this forum was hypocritical.

The record window in SF Pro 11 through !4 are pretty much the same.. aside from the remote and light/dark display option, Below area screenshots of Pro 14 (left) and the legacy Pro 10 (right). FWIW, i prefer the legacy.

"Sound Forge belonged to Sony from version 7 to version 11 "
- The Magix acquisition occurred soon after the initial publication of SF Pro 11

@rraud

To complete the set this is the Recording screen from SF Pro 11

as seen in the Sony manual.

The first window (SF14) is recording options and the second window (SF10) is recording window. They are completely different. In SF10, the recording window appeared with Ctrl-R shortcut, and SF14 this shortcut starts recording automatically, without showing the recording window. In SF10, the spacebar ends recording and SF14 the spacebar pauses recording. It was different, although you don't accept.

As does SF 11, see the Recording section in the SF 11 manual (page 143 onward), you will find the Recording window you believe existed is not there nor anywhere in the manual, and page 354 (Shortcuts).

When I mentioned the recording window, I was referring to SF10 and not SF11.

and here.

Magix could bring the recording window back. But that is never going to happen. Some things change for the better, and others change for the worse.

Thank you - It's obviously not the same - BUT it's something!!

FWIW, Magix is allegedly going to bring back the legacy remote record window option in the next build of Pro 14 (along with the missing 'textured background').
