Record from a vinyl album

donl1150 wrote on 5/31/2011, 3:08 PM

I am trying to record a vinyl album. When I select the Record input icon, then press the Record button, the recording level says Too Low. I can't get it to recognize the microphone input device on the PC (which by the way is working, since I can see the level change with the song on the PC monitor). What is wrong?

I am using Audio Cleaning Lab v16.

You shouldnt record a vinyl record with the micrphone port.

Microphone ports are mono (left channel) and add a gain boost to the audio that comes in throught that port. This will cause the audio to be distorted.

You should be using the Line-In port (usually blue) which is a stereo input that records 0db, therefore it records the audio level that its being received.

Regardless of what you use, you have to setup through the program and or Windows what is the recording device.

You must make sure that your record player has a pre-amp installed. Your audio output is otherwise too low to record. I bought a pre-amp kit by Electrokits and installed it. Works 100%
