Record button is greyed out

Problem - Cannot record audio from a cassette player.

I have clicked the ''record audio' and the screen shows the recording level is optimal - (and the two columns showing recording levels are both moving up and down). However the 'Record' button at bottom left of the screen is greyed out - and no recording takes place.

This is a permanent problem - happens every time.

On installation of MAGIX software I get a message "The procedure entry point CoInternetSetFeatureEnabled could not be located in the dynamic link library’ - C:\WINDOWSAppPatch\AcGeneral.DLL.". I have tried re-installing - but get same message

Harware is HP Laptop

Operating system is Windows 8.1

Software is 'Magix Audio Cleaning Lab 2004.

Software used to work fine on my Windows XP computer. Now replaced with an HP Laptop - and this is the first time I have tried to record on the laptop.

Audio Cleaning Lab (ACL) 2004 is not compatible with Windows 8 or 8.1 (or 10 when it is released). This is because Microsoft changed the way Windows works from version 8 onwards which renders some older versions of software incompatible or some functions do not work.

You will need to update to a version of ACL that is compatible with Windows 8.1
