Hi, select the Magix low-latency driver in the program settings, click on advanced and in the window that appears select your Rode microphone both as input and as output since your microphone If I am not mistaken has the input monitoring.
If it doesn't work for you at first, close Music Maker and restart the program.

Thanks for your help - yeah that's the same procedure I have previously been using. I make sure the mic is working fine via the PC sound check. I open Music Maker and make sure the track is showing 'audio rec' then click the record button to record vocals via the mic, but it does not show any recording on the time line. I have closed and restarted and checked everything many times over but no vocals can be recorded. Very strange it does not want to work, so I guess there must be something else I need to check/do?

@Snuke You can press shift+r to open the recording options. Maybe you need to select your microphone there.

Another option is to use the ASIO4All driver instead of Magix Low Lantency. They are both more or less identical but ASIO4All seems to have a version from 2017 which is a little bit newer. Maybe your microphone works better with this version. http://www.asio4all.org

Using USB microphones is generally problematic because they often don't have their own ASIO drivers and it can be tricky to get them working. It's better to use XLR-microphones with an audio interface that has it's own ASIO driver.

Hi MaurX65 and SP., and thanks again for your kind help. Here's a thing - I decided to test an old MMM that I had also on my PC. It is Music Maker 2015 and to my surprise everything works straightaway as it should do.

I will be contacting Magix to get my money back for the new MMM version, especially after I've had days and days of frustration trying to get it to work without success.

Has anyone else had problems with the new Music Maker 2020?

@Snuke

Hi

. . . . Has anyone else had problems with the new Music Maker 2020? . . . .

Are you sure you are using Music Maker 2020 - MMM 2021 is the current version ?

What is the version number as found under Help, About?

Hi John

Ah sorry - the Music Maker I bought last year was the latest at that time. I was sure that Magix had sold me a 2020 premium edition, but now when I check the backup CD they sent me, it states 2019 0n the label (the label shows Musc Maker written in capitals in a blue colour). The version number is: 28.0.3.53

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the CD, but the 'Rec Audio' problem still persists.
