Recently Used Transitions

simmiv wrote on 1/12/2023, 11:29 PM

Hi everyone,

I'm using Video Pro X14, latest version (20.0.3.176 (UPD3)..

In all my videos for a long time I normally only use two transitions, cross fade and swing 1.. Once you click on the video to apply a fade the following box pop's up..

As you can see the Crossfade is always there, second from the top.. However under what is called "Recently used transitions" I'm supposed to see transitions I frequently use like "Swing 1". However in my case it never shows up despite me using it frequently. In fact this list never changes as I rarely use other transitions. To get to "Swing 1" I always have to pick "Show all transitions" and then click on "3D transitions" and then select "Swing 1". Using for instance "Swing 2" once, it immedately appears in the frequently used lis. It's like "Swing 1" doesn't rate enought to appear there?

Has anyone seen somehting like this before where one or more transitions simply refuse to appear on the frequently used list?

Hi.

Can't say I've noticed as apart from cross fades but the list is not labeled 'frequently' it is labeled 'Recently' which is different in meaning and that transition does appear if I have recently used it.

Maybe this could be dependent on the components within a given system as to what gets written upon saving, I have no idea but there does seem to be a lot of new broken features in XPX 14 over the previous releases.

I have just suffered a major one.

Ray.

Hi

The recently used list does contain transitions that have been used from project to project with VPX 14 v 20.0.3.176 shut down in between. In the image below, the indicated transitions have not been used in the latest project, which had the Splinter effect used once, the others are from the previous project.

Very interesting Ray.. I see you have Swing 1 in your list. In my case Swing 1 never appears, no matter how often I use it. If I use Swing 2 or some others, only once they appear in that list straight away.. My install of XP14 seems to have an aversion for Swing 1 and insists I go throug the hoop to get it!!

I've now solved my problem with not seeing Swing 1 in the Recently Used transitions menu by manually editing the Video_Pro_X.ini file..

It has a section that looks like this..

[LastTransitions]
BigIcon=1
Count=10
last0=Plugins\3DStandard\Flip_m8_01.t3d
last1=Plugins\3DStandard\Swing_m8_02.t3d
last2=Plugins\3DSeries\PinBoard.s3d
last3=Plugins\3DStandard\ChangeObject_m8_03.t3d
last4=Plugins\ObjectTransitions\circle_echo.mxv
last5=Plugins\GPU_standard\GPU_wave.vxx
last6=Plugins\MoveTransitions\slide_boxes_01.mxv
last7=Plugins\ObjectTransitions\countdown.mxv
last8=Plugins\ObjectTransitions\stripes.mxv
last9=Plugins\ObjectTransitions\blinds_echo.mxv

By simply changing

last1=Plugins\3DStandard\Swing_m8_02.t3d to

last1=Plugins\3DStandard\Swing_m8_01.t3d

my Swing 1 now appears as the second option in the menu.. Go figure!
