Record menu opens, sound levels are shown, ...but "record" button will not light up or record. Upon opening "File", recent recordings, shows "File does not exist." If I go up to "Load file" and find that file, it will load normally.

Using an Acer Aspire M3970 with Windows 7, premium home edition

What are you trying to record ? How did you, basically, find a file that "doesn't exist" ?
