If you are running Windows 11, check in Windows settings, Accessibility, Text Cursor indicator option is not turned on.
This is known to cause the issue you are having with it being turned on automatically, this has been reported by several users in the forum.
If it is off then we need more information about your laptop specification to help diagnose the issue you are having.
For what is required of the specification of your computer system including, Antivirus, Windows and program versions, see this topic and please quote processor and graphics card make/model in full, and also what monitor/screen resolution you are working with.
@Reinhard-Bruderer If it doesn't run normal, even after disabling the text cursor indicator you can try to run Music Maker as administrator by right clicking on the program icon. This helped some users.
For some users this problem was caused by other programs running in the background, for example a screen reader software. But I don't think that this is the case for your computer.
I'm having a nightmare with this program, I don't understand why it is so slow opening, the menu takes like forever. Do other people have the same problem? I run it in administrative mode, but still not much better.
Yes, there were multiple topics about this in the past. Some users solved it by changing the audio driver in the Music Maker program settings, some by disabling or modifying their firewall, some by disabling the text cursor indicator, some by running Music Maker as administrator, some by disabling certain programs running in the background. Here's another one. Background program Pro Writing Aid. It seems to own the cursor, although no other programs seem to suffer. But switching it off was like switiching MMM on. Whew. I thought it was 1998 all over again.
