Problems with importing AVCHD files from a SD card into Movie Edit Pro 17 Plus

Timedwards wrote on 7/8/2012, 5:48 AM

I have Movie Edit Pro 17 Plus which I run under Windows 7 and have problems importing AVCHD files from an SD card.

Originally the AVCHD Import screen worked fine and displayed the video files to allow you to select the files which you require to import. However now it only occasionaly works OK and usually the screen appears to find nothing. The Windows 7 rotating circle shows for several seconds whilst it is looking for the files. It then goes away to leave the normal cursor and I also very briefly see a small window which say 100% in it. Twice I have even had the program crash and go into its recovery mode.

The Video Source is set to the correct location, and I know that the files are there by looking in Windows Explorer.

If I close the AVCHD Import window and then try again, It comes up with the error message "A memory allocation request has failed. Maybe there is no memory available or an internal error has occurred"

Note that I have an Intel i7 processor with 8GB of memory. The files were recorded on a SD card by a Panasonic SD900 camera and the files are definately in the AVCHD format.

Any ideas.

Thanks

Hi

Are you copying the AVCHD files to your computer before importing into MEP?  If not do this then try importing.

If yes or the import again fails then, using Windows Explorer, search for videodeluxe.ini making sure that you set Explorer to view Hidden and System files.

You should find more than 1 ini file - the one you want will be the largest in file size - delete it.

Restart MEP and try importing the AVCHD clips from your hard drive.

Thanks for your prompt suggestion.

Copying the files into the computer first and then importing into MEP worked fine.

Thanks very much.
