Problems inserting transitions in slideshows

Using PhotoStory Deluxe 2024 on a Windows 10 machine. When I insert a transition (drag and drop or by clicking on the transition icon in the storyboard) in between two photos in my slideshow, the software automatically moves the photo and all following photos backwards along my timeline a few seconds. This of course ruins the careful timing I've already done of the photos along the timeline. How do I get the software to just apply the transition and stop moving the photos on the timeline? Other slideshow creators I've worked with do not present this problem when inserting transitions.

@Dennis-Ferrell

Hi

. . . .  insert a transition ... between two photos in my slideshow,... moves the photo and all following photos backwards along my timeline a few seconds. . . . .

That is normal for many transitions which require an overlap, eg a standard crossfade of 1 second will overlap the two video/image objects, some longer transitions will overlap up to 3 secs per transition.

In timeline mode you can see the 'collapse' better:

You have to take this into account when editing/cutting video and setting the length of images.
