problem with volume control for virtual instruments

Samplitude Music Studio 2023, running on Windows 11.

I've run into this problem a couple of times now in my current project - if I use the track volume slider to lower the volume on a track with a virtual instrument, even just by a little bit, the volume control in the instrument interface turns all the way down to 0. If I turn it back up, it resets to 0 as soon as I hit play. This hasn't happened every single time I adjust volume, but it's been a few times, on different tracks, with different virtual instruments. I don't remember for sure, but I think it's only been with the virtual instruments that come installed with Samplitude, not with plugins that I've gotten elsewhere.

Does anyone know why this might be happening, and if there's anything I can do to prevent it?

@psychojosh13 Open the event list in the MIDI Editor and check all MIDI objects for events that change the volume to 0 and delete them.

No luck - the event list is only showing Note On events, nothing else. I also thought to check and see if there might be an unwanted volume animation curve for some reason, and there was not, so I know that's not the problem either.

To be clear (in case I wasn't before), the culprit is this knob here, in the virtual instrument interface:

I can turn it back up to where I want it, either by clicking on that knob directly or on any other "volume" control within the instrument interface, but as soon as I press play it drops back down to that position. Also, I hadn't tried this before, but I noticed just now that if I had that interface open and clicked on the volume slider for the track, I immediately saw this volume knob drop to zero. So it seems like that's where the connection is, I just don't know if it's a random bug or some specific option somewhere that I should be able to toggle.

I also experience the same issue especially when I hit record then the volume on the vst instrument automatically turns itself to 0

@psychojosh13 If you right click on the volume slider in the track header, is it set to volume mode or velocity mode?

Besides that, is the volume knob turned to 0 if you play from the beginning of the project or also from every other position?

You can also right click on the volume knob and check if it's mapped to some MIDI input.

My guess is still that the knob gets a signal to be lowered to 0 from somewhere.

Thank you! I didn't even realize that right-clicking on the track volume slider did anything, but sure enough it brought up several options. "MIDI Volume (CC 7)" was the one currently selected, so I changed it to "Track Volume" and then I was able to adjust it without the virtual instrument volume changing at all - exactly what I wanted.
