Problem with the sound

eskil-aaseng wrote on 12/24/2017, 11:42 AM

Recently downloaded Music Maker, but I'm having problems setting it up properly. Whenever I try to play something a text box pops up and says: "The sample rate 44100 Hz could not be set. Your sound card is possibly synced to an external source." I don't know how to fix this. I tried looking it up online but didn't find anything helpful. Any suggestions on this problem would be greatly appreciated.

hi, after having asio installed I haven't got that message again. I guess that solved the problem.

I have no clue what Asio is. Care to explain?

@eskil-aaseng

Please read this topic then come back with more information ie:

  1. Computer specification - processor make/model, graphics card or chipset make/model, audio card or chipset make/model, RAM,  hard drive configuration, sizes and free space?

  2. Windows version and is it up to date?  Press and hold down the Windows key and the R key - in the dialog that opens type in winver and press enter.

  3. Software full name and version number - as found under Help, About . . .

  4. Audio settings you are using as found in the Program settings, Audio/Midi tab.

. . . . I have no clue what Asio is. Care to explain? . . . .

Look up Audio Stream Input/Output (ASIO) on Google there are many explanations of what it is.

henry-f is probably referring to ASIO4All which provides ASIO support for those audio card/chipsets which do not have this capability - a description of what it does is on the ASIO4All website.

Cheers. Will try out his solution and post the specs tomorrow

Ok, so a bit late, but I'll post the specs now since the ASIO solution didn't really do anything although I might just have no clue what I'm doing.

Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4700HQ CPU @ 2.40GHz 2.40 GHz.

RAM: 8.00 GB (7.88 Gb usable).

I have several hard drives with a lot of free space on them.

Chipset: Intel(R) 8 Series Chipset Family SATA AHCI Controller.

Graphics card: Intel(R) HD Graphics 4600.

Microsoft Windows Version 1607.

Program settings:

Don't really know how to check the software version. All I know is that I bought the Music Maker 80s Edition of Humble Bundle and downloaded it around a week ago.

I hope this info helps with finding the problem as I'm quite new to this music problem and would really appreciate the help.

Hi

You can post the program settings image in the forum using the Media upload button above the text entry box- there is no need to use an outside platform.

From your image, I have circled, in blue, the problem setting - to use ASIO4All then you must set the ASIO driver settings, circled in blue, to the same as shown below, the top setting, circled in red, will automatically change.

. . . . Don't really know how to check the software version. . . . .

See point 3 in my original post above.

Hi,

I downloaded asio4all from their website, and I installed it in my laptop. Then I reinstalled Magix Music Maker and selected asio4all in the program settings. I've got the same settings as johnebaker in the second screenshot. That may have solved the problem. I've got MMM v25.1.2.78.

I also noticed that it's important to disconnect my bluetooth speakers before opening MMM.
