Problem with aspect ratio

Hi!

I have a question I hope some one can help me with.

I have lot of old VHS tapes that I'm in the process of transferring to my laptop. However, when I export the videos, I get these black bars on either side of the picture. I've tried changing the aspect ratio, but the black bars are still there.

Is it possible to remove these black bars so the picture will fill the screen on my laptop, and if so how do I do it, or am I just wasting my time on this?

I'm using version 5.0.1.104 (UDTP) of "Video easy Rescue Your Videotapes" on Windows 10 (64-bit).

Thanks in advance.

KG.

Hi

Assuming the old VHS tapes are 4:3 aspect ratio and the project or screen is set to 16:9, to fill the screen you would have to:-

  1. distort the image to fill the width - not recommended
  2. crop the image top and bottom.

AFAICS neither of these functions are available in RYVT. You would need to use a program such as Movie Edit Pro for this.

Filling a screen with the image will also show the poor quality of the image from the tape which is lower resolution than DVD.
