Problem making BluRay

brianworthington wrote on 4/21/2012, 10:48 AM

I have a project that runs 92 mins, shot on a Canon 5D mk2, setting of movie PalFullHD 24p 16:9 Audio 48khz, everytime I try to make a Blu Ray disc, I get a message saying export settings differ from movie settings, I cant find any BluRay settings with 24fps, I ignored the warning and proceeded to burn, it sticks at process 2 of 5 in the same place every time, the longest I have waited is 16hrs before cancelling, Any ideas whats going wrong.

Hi Brian.

You've posted in the VPX section so I presume you're using VPX!  I've just opened VPX4 with a test project I have on the go and can see what you are asking; there is no facility to alter the preset encoder settings to 24fps, unless you change the Disc Format (first "burn" screen) from MPEG-2 to H.264.

Then, when you click through to the next screen, the Presets include one called "BluRay 1920 x 1080p 24" which should, I think, solve the problem.  Though I have noticed a post in the MEP forum which appears to suggest that not all BD Players can actually play H.264 format discs.

Hi Jeff, thanks for your reply, I am using VPX4, I cant seem to find how I change the disc format on first burn screen.

Hi Brian.

(Note to self: be more clear in your answers!!)

I'm assuming you have completed your video on the timeline and then switched to the Burn screen.  You then set up your Disc Menu in whatever way you choose.  You then click on the "burn" icon (middle right of the menu layout screen), on the next window you choose Blu-Ray Disc.  The next window which opens is called "BD Burning"; item no. 2 on that screen is "Disc Format", with two radio buttons: MPEG-2 and H.264, choose the latter.  Then click on "Encoder Settings"; the drop-down menu on the screen which then appears has an entry near the bottom which should, I think, match your input footage.

HTH.

Hi Jeff, I cant find any radio buttons or any other way of selecting mpeg2 or H264.

I am using Magix Video Pro x4 version.

This is what I get when I go into encoder settings.

Oo-er!

The first picture you uploaded is precisely the screen where, on my system, item 2, BD Format, has those radio buttons!  I can only assume that the H.264 option that I see means that I have some type of codec on my system that is not on yours!

Here is the BD Burn screen as it appears on my computer

As you can see, the radio buttons give me the option to choose H.264!  As a consequence of that choice I suspect that gives me additional options on the Encoder Settings.

If I do indeed have a codec which enables that option I have no idea where it came from.  All I can suggest is that you do an internet search for H.264 and see what it says.

Update: I think, from a quick Google search, that it may have something to do with having ffdshow installed on my computer.  The latest version of this can be downloaded from http://www.digital-digest.com/software/download.php?sid=1030&ssid=0&did=6

Just as a matter of interest, can you check your version number out, my version is  version 11.0.5.26 (UDC2)

Hi Brian.

Sorry to be so long replying, I've only just seen your message.

My version is 11.0.5.26 (UDP1).  So, apart from the letters in brackets, our versions appear to be identical!

Did you check about ffdshow?

Jeff
