Prgogram locking up.

Hi

I am running into a problem.  I am using movie studio 2023, with win 11version 21H2 (OS BUILD 22000.63) on a Dell XPS 8940 with an intel i9 processor and a NVIDIA GTX 1660 Ti 6GB GDDR6.  After placing the video clips on the timeline the video plays.  However after beginning to add voice wave files for the first few minutes on the timeline the screen freezes but the play line continues to move across the timeline but nothing changes on the monitor.  When I hit the stop button the entire screen freezes up and there is no way to get anything to happen except by using the task manage to shut the program down.  I have tried it a number of times with the same result.  I even restarted the program and shut down the machine but this did not change the outcome.  Any suggestions?

@Jack-Messmer

Hi Jack

We need more information:

Are the GPU drivers up to date?

For the GTX 1660 Ti - the current version is 526.98 (31.0.15.2698) here, and for the Intel UHD 750 iGPU the latest are 31.0.101.3790/31.0.101.2114 here.

What are the video resolutions, framerate and source of the video file ie from video camera, mobile phone, screen recordings etc?

Download and install MediaInfo and analyse one of the source video files and post the results, see this tutorial if you are not familiar with MediaInfo   on how to setup MediaInfo and analyse a video clip.

The amount of free space on the hard drive(s) you have?

Can you put your computer specs in your signature please - it will save us having to look at previous posts for the information.

John,

Followed your suggestions and updated both drivers. This did not resolve the locking up of the program. The program uses various types of files video mostly, MTS from video camera, jpeg for photos and audio files are wave files, but I have not added any sound tracks (that is background music) to it yet.
