Preview Screen Blank

I was using Movie Edit Pro 12 on an XP, but wanted to work on my Windows 7 desktop.  So I purchased Movie Edit Pro 17 Plus.  I have an AMD X6 processor with 16 GB Memory.

I cannot figure out how to get the video to display in the Preview Screen.  I have been able to see a title I greated display in the preview screen, but not after creating it and trying to view it as a part of the movie.  The audio plays, but no picture shows in the preview screen.

I am getting so frustrated with this!  I have read several other posts, and do not find a preview button.  I do not find a reset button, in case it was something I accidentally did.  I go to the systems setting and under the display template tab, even though I keep setting it to standard, it goes back to User defined.

This is definitely more obnoxious than version 12!

First try pressing F9.

You can also try File - Settings - Reset program settings to  default.

Hi

I would not call MEP 17 obnoxious - it is just very different from 12

If both the previous suggestions fail try the following:

With MEP closed, use Windows Explorer to search your c: drive for videodeluxe.ini - it may be a hidden file so you will need to set the search to include hidden files and folders.

You may find several files returned in various locations - the one you want will be the largest in size ie 12 - 20+ kb

Delete the file.  Note you will lose any custom settings you made.

Start MEP and try the project again

HTH

My wife stumbled across a solution in the last hours of the night last night.  She discovered that in the Program Settings Dialog box on the Display Options Tab, the Video Mode has to be set to Compatiability Mode (Video for Windows).

The frustrating part is that this setting seems to have a mind of its own!

Thanks everyone for such quick responses to my question!
