Magix does not really offer a upgrade path, you just purchase the latest version.  They usually offer good deals to get people to buy the latest versions, especially as we move further in to the year.  The closer to September or October you get, that is usually when the best deals become available but that is also usually when they introduce the next version.  Sign up for the email notices, and you will get offers via email.  Magix is pretty good at not bombarding you with too much but sometimes their offers and specials are really good.
