Hello,

I plug my keyboard in (M-Audio) and when I press the keys the keyboard on screen reacts, but no sound... right click the square box with the plus sign, select a trumpit, hit the keys and no sound.

So, i click "Record" play some notes then when I play back my recording, I hear a piano (not a trumpit)????

Whats going on??  I want to know this software is solid before I purchase it.

Audio settings: Output Device: Microsoft GS Wavetable Synth
Input Device: USB Keystation 88es

Audio playback: Tried all three options I have.

Direct sound or wave driver

still nothing?

so

1. why cant I hear my keyboard?

2. why are all instruments playing as a piano?

Hi Darren,

Did you get it working yet?

There should be an Asio driver that came with the keyboard. Install it and use it or download and use Asio4All.

Can you hear soundpools if you click on one?

As for your question about instruments, they are all mapped to keyboards as this is what most people understand. I don't know how they could do otherwise. If you were a programmer, how would you program the interface to play a violin?

Hi Darren,

Now that you're trying to imagine playing a trumpet by blowing into the mouse, do not right-click on the + sign at the left of the track. A right-click does not select an instrument, it selects the image of an instrument. Just simply click on the + and select an instrument from the long list; there are no images in the list.

I presume tht you did set your keyboard and Music Maker up for midi? If you connected your keyboard through an audio input, it will play whatever sound is coming from your keyboard. Music Maker instruments are only used with midi.

Thank you for getting back... Your following comment answered my question about the instrument... if I right click I didnt realise I was just choosing an image for that track lol   (not very clear)

However.... clicking the plus, I can see options for:
1- No VSTi
2- Vita Sampler
3- VST Plug in path
4- Instrument Editor (greyed out)

When i select vita sampler, I can select an instrument, but its playing a pre built sound.. ... when I press keys on my midi keyboard I hear the sound (but I can only select keys in one octive and seems to play a preset sound

I can select a sound pool and drag that onto my tracks and I can hear it.

I can also see an "Instrucments" tab  (soundpools|File Browser|INSTRUMENTS|keyboard|tempaltes|inspector)
and only see two options (Viat sampler and More) clicking more takes me to another website where I can purchase an instrument... but I want to test this first)

Object synthesizer just seems to show me "Beat Box 2, Loop Designer, Robota"

... so where and how do I choose an instrument... I want to say, choose a guitar, hit middle c and hear the sound of a guitar string being played (just one string, not a chord)????

Hi Darren,

Are you using the trial version? If so, then you will not have all of the instruments.

I put together a quick video as to how MMM works that may help. Please let me know if it does.
