Playback Marker Stopped Moving!!

mb2222 wrote on 6/10/2012, 9:07 PM

I may have right clicked something. The red playback marker/line that normally travels along the tracks while playing the song does not move anymore. I can click the top bar and set the marker, and the song will play from where i set it, but it does not move and follow the song, the screen does not scroll and follow along either, What happened???

What version of Music Maker do you have?

mb2222 wrote on 6/11/2012, 8:28 PM

I have the latest, says Musicmaker MX 18.0.0.42

john-auvil wrote on 6/12/2012, 12:28 PM

Does this happen on every project or only the project you are currently working on?

According to the Magix support website, the latest version of Music Maker MX is 18.0.3.0... I hadn't updated either, but my version was 18.0.1.11.

Below is the link for the update, but you will have to login to download.

https://support2.magix.com/customer/en/node/171057

I am not sure if that is the answer to the issue, my timeline is still scrolling, so I am still trying to replicate the issue you have.

mb2222 wrote on 6/12/2012, 2:47 PM

Ok it's fixed. I turned off my computer and turned back on. I think what happened was that Musicmaker was open on the screen and left for a couple days, the pc went into sleep mode and made a bad copy of the program, later when it tried to restore it from where I left off it was corrupted somewhat.

FIXED!!!!

If you have problems with the red play back maker(red line that goes across the screen) don't panic, cause it's pretty simple. It don't matter what system you have.Don't reset the magix software,it still won't fix the problem.Restart your computer or laptop BUT!!!! MAKE SURE when restarting it,make sure you shut it down, not by the power button but choosing to power off completely with you mouse. Then power it back on and THAT will do the trick. What happen was that whatever you did to the computer,it might've interrupted something and may needed to update in the first place.

The Playback Marker on Magix Music Studio 2015 has stopped working. I have de-installed and re-installed and have updated windows, but nothing helps. Who can help me?

Hi.

You have resurrected a thread begun in 2012 and whose last post was nearly two years ago; it would have been better to start a new thread.

Have you read the post immediately above yours?

Unfortunately, uninstalling and reinstalling may have been the worst thing you could do! This tutorial, https://www.magix.info/uk/tutorials/fixing-program-issues-after-windows-10-upgrade--1142475/, although it is described as a method of resolving problems after a Windows 10 upgrade, also gives very valuable information on resolving any uninstall/reinstall problems.

I have tried everything. Regretably, I do not get a reply from Magix about this. I have not been able to use my Music Studio 2015 anymore.

Hi

. . . . I have tried everything. . . .

Did you try resetting the program to its default settings, File, Settings, Reset . . . . and then restart the computer using Windows start button, Power, Restart

Thank you for your reply, but I have tried that too and it doesn´t help. Re-installing does not help either. There must be an update from Magix or from Windows that should resolve this problem, but I have not found it.

johnebaker wrote on 6/15/2017, 7:39 AM

Hi

. . . . Re-installing does not help either. . . .

This is a last resort option and does not always fix issues, the un-installer leaves files left behind that it does not know about - they are created on first run of the program - these must be removed.

What is the full name and version number is your Music Studio - as found under Help, About . . .

The full name of the program is Magix Music Studio 2015 21.0.0.22 (DPPS). Please explain how I can remove the files that are left behind by the un-installer. Thank you.

Hi

Did you follow the tutorial that emmrecs (Jeff) pointed you to?

See the tutorial for re-installing, if you are on Windows 10 it is good for checking the installation and re-installing Music Studio.

If you are using Windows 7 or 8 then follow the tutorial and ignore steps 3 to 8.

The easiest way to get rid of this is to stretch the yellow bar out, I had this problem to, go into View -> then click Standard Layout, Hope this helps!

Unfortunately, none of your "fixes," as described, have actually resulted in a fix. I have done everything recommended, and still have a static playback marker. I see this thread began some seven years ago. One would think that in seven years, someone could have identified a satisfactory solution! Any help???

johnebaker wrote on 9/18/2019, 12:55 PM

@CStern

Hi and welcome to the forum.

As we know nothing about the program version you are using or your computer specification, please read this topic, then start a new topic and come back with the specification of your computer and which program, variant, ie free, Plus of Premium, and version number you are using - details are in the linked topic on what is required

As you commented this is an old topic and will be closed.
